Au Pair Duties

Different families have different expectations of what their Au Pair should do. However the New Zealand Au Pair Association have set industry standards and make sure that families are not expecting too much from their Au Pair.

Normal duties can include: 

  • Wake children in the morning
  • Bath children
  • Dress children and make sure they are appropriately groomed
  • Make the children's beds and make sure that their rooms are clean
  • Prepare breakfast for the children
  • Prepare lunch for the children
  • Prepare snacks for the children
  • Take children to activities such as play groups, outings etc
  • Tidy after the children's meals
  • Make sure children have books and homework for school
  • Drive children to school
  • Food shopping (if family requires)
  • Vacuuming children's rooms and general play areas
  • Emptying trash
  • Folding and washing clothes
  • Pick up children from school 
  • Do home work with children
  • Prepare dinner
